Alaska Regional LifeFlight - Non-injury incident

Weather: Raining.  Not a factor

Team: Pilot, Second in command, flight nurse x 2. No injuries reported. No patient. 

Description: 
	At approx 10000 feet, while on ascent from home airport, en route to
	retrieve patient, white smoke was observed coming from behind the
	flight deck instrument panel. Redundant electronics were shut down by
	pilots and plane was readied for return to base via emergency
	landing.
	LifeFlight dispatch was notified and PAIP was activated. Aircraft
	returned to hangar without further incident, EMS/Fire stood down, PAIP
	stood down.  Aircraft grounded pending evaluation.
	Patient transported via alternate vendor with delay in patient care of
	approximately 30 minutes.

	Cause of smoke determined to be electrical short in windscreen heater
