On Sunday March 3, 2013 Air Link, based in Scottsbluff, NE, was
requested for an inter-facility transfer. At 00:25 immediately after
lifting, the crew heard a thump on the port side of the helicopter.
The crew immediately started to discuss the source of the abnormal
noise as the pilot was returning to the helipad for a precautionary
landing. The pilot stated all flight operations remained normal. The
helicopter landed safely at the helipad at 00:28. The Base Area
Manager and Regional Area Manager were contacted. After a thorough
inspection of the aircraft was completed, there was no damage to the
aircraft noted. After a discussion with the Base Area Manager and the
flight crew it was decided to return to service and complete the
flight request. The flight request was completed without incident.

Additional Info:
A PAIP for a precautionary landing was executed by Air Link dispatch.
All appropriate phone calls were completed. The source of the noise
was determined to be an apparent bird strike.
