St. Mary's LifeFlight - Non-injury incident

Team: Pilot, Flight Nurse x's 2. No injuries reported. Patient on board. 

	At 21:12 CST, LifeFlight lifted from Richland Memorial Hospital with a
	patient on board enroute to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.  The
	aircraft was operating at 2000 feet MSL with the pilot under NVG?s. 
	At 21:24 CST, the aircraft experienced a birdstrike with two ducks
	entering the cockpit on the pilot?s side of the aircraft.  The pilot
	was hit in the helmet and left shoulder with the impact.  At this
	time, LifeFlight advised the communication center they were aborting
	the flight due to a bird strike and would be landing at the closest
	appropriate landing area which was the helipad at Wabash General in
	Mt. Carmel, IL.  The pilot landed the aircraft safely at Wabash
	General.  Ground transportation was waiting on the crew on their
	arrival and the patient was transported safely with the medical crew
	and ground crew to the patient?s destination of Deaconess Hospital in
	Evansville, IN.

Additional Info: 
	The pilot received a precautionary evaluation through the ER and was
	released that evening.  The mechanic inspected the aircraft and found
	damage only to the cockpit window.  Parts have been received,the
	aircraft has been repaired and inspected by the mechanic, and the
	aircraft is back in service.
